Anniversary Surprise

Now that the world knows about our pregnancy I can finally share all the fun stories that we had to keep secret during the first part of my pregnancy, which, by the way, was very hard to do!  As soon as we found out that we were pregnant, we both wanted to shout from the tops of the mountains that we were having a baby!

A week or so before I could actually take the pregnancy test I was pretty sure that I was pregnant, but I didn't want to tell McKay anything, because I wanted it to be a complete surprise when I told him.  I wasn't sick, but I could tell that my body was getting ready for something.  At the time, I was in the middle of recording a CD with a friend of mine, so was practicing and going into the studio a lot.  The first day of recording landed right on McKay and my 2nd anniversary, which I felt terrible about, however, it was the only available time.

McKay and I agreed that we would celebrate our anniversary over the weekend with massages and dinner to make up for it though, but I knew I wanted to give him a special anniversary surprise on our actual anniversary day.  I also knew that our anniversary was the first day that I could actually take the pregnancy test, so I prepared a slideshow of our past 2 years together and decided to put the pregnancy test results at the end, sure that it would be positive.

I also had work at the flower shop on the evening of our anniversary, (I know, I felt like the worst wife in the world!) but decided to take a pregnancy test with me.  I took the pregnancy test at work, but did it completely wrong and had to buy another one on my way home from work.  When I came through our door I gave McKay a hug and a kiss, then quickly ran to the bathroom to take the test.  I wasn't surprised to see it come out positive, but began shaking with excitement!  I snapped a shot and added it to the slideshow.

McKay had two wrapped presents waiting for me when I came out that he had been anxious to give me while I was in the bathroom for soooo long.  With a huge smile on my face and jitters all over my body I opened his sweet presents.  One was a sweater for me and the other was a little baby boy's outfit with knickers.  It was adorable!  At this point I thought he must have suspected something, but he said he saw it and just had to have it, because he thought that our first baby was going to be a boy.  He has been getting me little children’s clothes for a while, so I could tell that he didn’t suspect anything.  This was perfect!

I then brought him to the living room and started this video while we snuggled on the couch.  It was fun to reminisce and see all the many things that we have done in the past two years.

At the end of the video McKay was so surprised that he couldn't quite comprehend what had just happened.  He said, “Wait, you are pregnant...now?” to which I replied "YES!"  It was such a special moment.  We hugged and kissed on the couch, and cried a lot.  It was a perfect way to tell him and I couldn't think of a better anniversary present for the two of us!  I love my McKay and can’t wait to bring this new life into the world with him!  He is going to be the best father ever!

It's a...

Gender Reveal PaRtY!!!
Instead of finding out the gender of our baby at the doctor, we decided that we wanted to share the suspense and excitement with our families.  We told the doctor not to tell us the gender of our baby, but instead, to write it on a piece of paper that we then put in an envelope.  As you can imagine, that paper burned in our hands as we left the hospital, and was VERY tempting to open.  Luckily, we only had to wait a few days and knew that it would be worth the wait if we got to share the gender reveal with our families.  We then took the envelope to a baker and had them bake us a cake with a pink or blue inside depending on the gender of our baby.
With Lad or Lassie cake, bow and mustache sugar cookies, and the most wonderful family members in the world as our guests, we couldn't have hoped for a better party!

Everyone cast their votes of what they thoughts we were having.
We voted for either, so at least one of us would be right.
And now for the big reveal...
It's a...
Baby...
BOY!!!
We are both thrilled to be having a boy!
I always thought, "what would I ever do with a little girl," because I grew up with three brothers and was an absolute tomboy.  So, I fell pretty prepared to be having a little baby boy.
One of our favorite parts of the party was seeing all the adorable kids in our families and dreaming of what our little boy will look like!  I must say, I think we have a pretty good chance of having a cutie with all these good looking babes!

So many wonderful people helped put this party together and we are so grateful to all of them.  Thank you mom for letting us use your beautiful house.  All the delicious food and adorable cookies could not have come together without all the help of McKay's siblings.  They are the best!  Thank you!  And my incredible cousin took all these wonderful photos of the event.  She is amazing and an absolute angel!  Thank you Clara!  If anyone is interested in using her as a photographer (which I would highly recommend) I can give you her information.
Oh, we already love our little boy so much!

Expecto Bambino

We solemnly swear that we have been up to no good...
 Mischief Managed!
Coming February 2014!

McKay and I are beyond ecstatic for this little baby to come into our lives.  We have been praying and hoping for this little one for a long time.  McKay and I had a blast making this announcement together.  Our bestest friends, Jordan and Nicole, came over as soon as we found out and took pictures for us.  We have been dying to share them!

The more we go to the doctor and see our little one the more we realize how perfect this announcement is for our baby. The last three times that we have been to the doctor, the doctor has flat out started laughing because our little baby won't stay still.  I guess we have quite the active child on our hands!  And mischievous!  Look at our baby in this picture - sticking it's tongue out at us.  Ha ha!  I love our baby so much already it hurts!  I can't wait to meet them!

I have to share one adorable story about McKay because it is just too cute.  McKay and I talk about our baby all the time and dream of what they will look like, and what their personality will be like.  It's kind of our favorite activity to do.  While talking about how much we both already love our little baby, McKay looked at me very seriously and said, "Are you going to love this baby more than me?"  With that question I gently grabbed McKay by the hand and took him into our bedroom and laid him down on our bed, which we always do when one of us wants to tell the other something very important.  I laid right next to him on my side and looked into his eyes while stroking his worried adorable face and said, "I will love all our babies fiercely, but one day our little babies will grow up and find husbands or wives of their own to love and leave us, and guess who will be left?"  McKay's face light up as he sheepishly responded, "Me!"  "Yes," I continued, "And you are, and always will be my number one baby.  I will always love you most of anyone in this world!"  McKay buried his head in my arms in relief and smiled extra big the rest of that day.
